Sarah Ellen Finch is the second child and oldest daughter of William Frederick Finch and Cintha (aka Cynthia) Evison. Sarah was also known as Nellie and she was born in Kilworth, Ontario (Canada) in about 1884.
Alfred and Sarah married on 1 Aug 1902 in London, Middlesex County, Ontario (Canada).
Note: Alfred’s name is listed incorrectly on the marriage registration as “Alfred F Fleming” instead of “Alfred F Thomas”.
Sometime between the birth of their second child in September of 1904 and their third child in March of 1906, Sarah and Alfred moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba. Several family members, including two of Sarah’s brothers (Joseph and William) moved out west with them.
Their sojourn out west was short-lived, however, because by October of 1908, the Thomas family was back in Middlesex County (Ontario) and celebrating the birth of twins!
In 1911, Alfred and Sarah and their children were living in Westminster Township (Middlesex County).
** Update on 15 Oct 2013
I found the 1921 Census for Alfred and Nellie. They are still living in Westminster Township (Middlesex County).
Alfred died in 1953 and Nellie in 1960 and they are buried in Scottsville Cemetery in Scottville, Ontario.
Alfred and Sarah “Nellie” Finch Thomas had 10 children. I’ll be writing individual blogs about each of the children, but for now here is the excerpt about their family from Delaware and Westminster Townships, Together in History (Page 614):
